IRS Ruling Provides OTC Cost Relief

Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation efforts to ease the burden of over-the-counter drug costs are finally paying off. Sjögren’s syndrome patients who have access to health care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) through their employers can now deduct the cost of over-the-counter drugs. The IRS ruled this fall that many OTC drugs can be paid for with pre-tax dollars through FSA health plans and other pretax health care plans. This action is a major breakthrough and a first step in helping patients with OTC coverage.
