The following is a listing of the SSF's Committee Structure. Each committee is assigned to help oversee various Foundation activities and are made up of Board Members, Sjögren's patients and other volunteers.
Education
Responsible for planning and oversight of public and professional educational programs.
Finance
(Chaired by Treasurer) Oversees development of the Foundation's annual budget and reviews requests for expenditures outside the budget. Oversees the Foundation's investments in accordance with the Foundation's investment policy and monitors Foundation financial activities on an ongoing basis. Governance
(Chaired by President) Reviews and makes recommendations regarding
the Foundation's governance structure and bylaws. Develops Board orientation and
development materials and programs. Describes and reviews goals and priorities.
Medical and Scientific Advisory Board
Responsible for guidance and oversight on medical matters of importance to the Foundation. MSAB Membership Listing
Membership
Responsible for planning and oversight of projects to increase membership, improve member services and expand awareness of Sjögren’s syndrome and the Foundation.
Nominations
(Chaired by President-Elect) Identifies current gaps and qualifications
needed for the Board of Directors; helps ensure appropriate diversity and representation
from three key groups: patients, medical professionals, and those in industry or business;
pursues an ongoing search for nominees; nominates new board members, officers,
and committee members.
Publications
Responsible for oversight and planning of Foundation editorial projects (TMS, brochures, books, information sheets, etc.) There will be an appointed committee subgroup — the medical review working group — responsible for editorial review of all medically oriented materials published by the Foundation.
Research Review Committee
An ad-hoc working group appointed by the President of the Board of Directors and MSAB Chair to provide peer review for research proposals and science awards.
