The Medical and Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for monitoring medical and scientific progress in Sjögren's syndrome and advising the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation Board of Directors on all scientific issues. It recommends the scientific and research goals of the Foundation.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Reviewing all medical and scientific materials printed by the Foundation
- Assisting in program planning for Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation conferences
- Developing guidelines and internal procedures for its review activities:
- Reviewing grant and fellowship applications for funding recommendation to the Board of Directors
- Reviewing grantees' progress reports
- Suggesting additional research projects
- Developing Requests for Proposals for approval by the Board of Directors
