- Overview of Sjögren’s Syndrome Manifestations
Jody K. Hargrove, MD
Dr. Hargrove is a board-certified rheumatologist in private practice
in Edina, Minnesota. She has many patients with both primary
and secondary Sjögren’s syndrome and fi nds meeting their medical
needs interesting, challenging, and rewarding. Dr. Hargrove will
provide a comprehensive explanation of the range of symptoms
that Sjögren’s patients experience, explain their causes, and offer
practical tips for managing them.
- Tear Dysfunction Syndrome
Mina Massaro-Giordano, MD
Dr. Massaro-Giordano is a board certified ophthalmologist at the
University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute. An experienced
cataract micro-surgeon, Dr. Massaro-Giordano sees a myriad of
patients and has a specifi c interest in treating patients with "Tear
Dysfunction Syndrome" (dry eye) including the use of autologous
serum eye drops. This esteemed eye care expert will review various
complications of dry eye and will discuss the latest treatment options
to help you manage and treat dry eye.
- Research Update
Olga J. Baker, DDS, PhD; Steven Taylor, SSF Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Baker is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Biochemistry
at the Life Sciences Center, University of Missouri, and
a past SSF Research Grant recipient. She will give us an overview
of her research at the University of Missouri. Following Dr. Baker’s
talk, Steven Taylor, CEO of the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation, will
share with us an update on the Foundation’s Research Program.
- Dermatological Issues and Sjögren’s Syndrome
John R. Fenyk, Jr., MD Dr. Fenyk is a Professor of Dermatology and dermatologist member
of the University of Minnesota’s Lupus and Sjögren’s Clinic. He
was in private practice for 25 years when he retired from his practice
to re-enter academic dermatology full-time. Dr. Fenyk will enhance
your understanding of dermatological issues associated with
Sjögren’s syndrome.
- Treatment of Sjögren’s Syndrome — How to Help Your Doctor Help You
Daniel Small, MD, MMSc, FACP Dr. Small has had a career-long interest in Sjögren’s syndrome. He
established and is the Director of the Sjögren’s Center of Florida in
Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Small has been practicing rheumatology since
1978 and has reported on a large series of patients with Sjögren’s
syndrome at both national and international rheumatology meetings.
Dr. Small will provide key facts about the latest treatments of
the disease.
