- Overview of Sjögren's Syndrome
Frederick B. Vivino, MD, FACR, Chief of Rheumatology at PENN Presbyterian
Medical Center, and the Director of the University of Pennsylvania
Sjögren’s Center. Always one our most popular speakers, Dr. Vivino
will present a comprehensive explanation of the range of symptoms
that Sjögren’s patients experience, explain their causes, and offer
practical tips for managing them.
- Management of Accelerating Dental Caries
Michael T. Brennan, DDS, MHS, the Oral Medicine Residency Director and Associate
Chairman of the Department of Oral Medicine at the Carolinas
Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also the Director
of the Sjögren’s Syndrome and Salivary Disorders Center at the Carolinas
Medical Center. Dr. Brennan’s enlightening talk will provide
attendees with insights into how Sjögren’s impacts their oral health
as well as information and tips to share with their dentists.
- Dry Eye & Sjögren’s
Jodi Luchs, MD, FACS, the Director of the Department of Refractive Surgery
for the Long Island Jewish/North Shore University Health System.
He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and
Visual Sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New
York. This esteemed eye care expert will discuss the current and future
treatments for dry eyes.
- Research Appeal
Seunghee Cha, DDS, PhD; Steven Taylor, SSF Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Cha, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgery and Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Dentistry
at the University of Florida, and a past Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation
Research Grant Recipient, will give us an overview of her research
at Gainesville. Following Dr. Cha’s talk, Steven Taylor, CEO
of the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation, will present the goals for the
Foundation’s 2008 Research Program.
- Systemic Treatments of the
Manifestations of Sjögren’s Syndrome
Daniel Small, MD, M.M.Sc., FACP. Dr. Small has had a career-long interest in Sjögren’s syndrome. He
established and is the Director of the Sjögren’s Center of Florida in
Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Small has been practicing rheumatology since
1978 and has reported on a large series of patients with Sjögren’s
syndrome at both national and international rheumatology meetings.
Dr. Small will provide key facts about the latest treatments of
the disease.
