The International Symposium is the pre-eminent research meeting on Sjögren's syndrome and brings together a distinguished group of international authorities. Since Sjögren's syndrome is such a protean disorder, with manifestations involving potentially every organ system, research and management falls amongst many disciplines. While Sjögren's syndrome is frequently discussed at various medical subspecialty meetings (the American College of Rheumatology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, for example), the international symposium is the sole venue that brings together all investigators and clinicians with interest in Sjögren's syndrome. The symposium represents a unique opportunity for interactions between groups that typically do not meet scientifically and fosters cross-cutting collaborations.

WHEN: April 27 — 29, 2006

WHERE:
Washington, DC
Marriott Wardman Park
(see hotel information)

WHO:
The IXth International Symposium on Sjögren's syndrome is open to clinicians and researchers in all fields associated with Sjögren's syndrome. Medical students are also invited and encouraged to attend. Over 60 speakers have been invited to present. See the ISSS schedule for a complete list of speakers and topics.

Since the last International Symposium in 2002 there has been significant research progress in Sjögren's syndrome. The upcoming meeting will feature the latest and most interesting developments presented by experts in the field and covering the broad range of medical and scientific areas involved in Sjögren's syndrome. The Symposium will also encourage attendance by new investigators and trainees, in order to foster future research in this serious autoimmune condition.
