Please finish the following sentence: "Sjögren's has taught me...":
To take care of myself and listen to my body.
What are your most difficult symptoms?:
Fatigue and parotitis
How has Sjögren's impacted your life (either physically, emotionally, financially)?:
Sjögrens took a large chunk of my childhood as I was in and out of the hospital for years. I am currently in stable condition but still suffer from chronic fatigue and parotitis.
How do you effectively cope with the complexity of symptoms?:
I take my medications prescribed consistently and make time for self care. I let my body rest when it needs to instead of pushing myself past my limits.
What do you wish people knew about your Sjögren’s?:
That the fatigue we experience isn’t just “being tired” and it can truly be debilitating at times. We aren’t lazy, we’re exhausted.
How do you incorporate self-care with managing Sjögren's?:
Listening to my body not just when I’m having a flare up but all the time. Resting when I need to and staying hydrated are two of my top priorities.
What is your go-to Sjögren's product?:
Biotene products! Their mouth rise and mouth spray have been life savers.
What’s your best Sjögren’s tip?:
Be gentle with yourself. You have chronic illness and it’s okay to acknowledge that.
